Ceramic Artworks

I'm interested in the notion of an index or an imprint as opposed to representations of things. I want to explore how the 'aura' of a thing can be preserved and how narratives of process can be distorted in different ways. I choose forms that imply a moment of collapse or unravelling. I love to create surface casts that come directly from the real forms that they describe. I like to put contrasting textures together so the viewer can  insert meaning. My surface casts come from the people and places around where I live. They're from tree bark, plants, sea barnacles and people that have made their own impression on me.
